Montana Wolf Hunt Count At 44
(Fish and Game) - November 2, 2011
Two weeks into the season and it appears Montana hunters are doing the job on reducing the wolf population in Big Sky country. According to the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks, 44 wolves have been taken two weeks into the season, but there’s still work to be done in several areas.
Along the entire western edge of the state, there’s a harvest quota of 130 wolves for units 100, 101, 121, 200, 210, and 250. Only 16 wolves have been taken so far.
The general rifle season started Oct. 22 and runs until December 31st.
