Applications are now being accepted for the first "women only" dove hunt at the Lake Wallace Wildlife Management Area in Bennettsville on Monday, Sept. 3. The application deadline is Friday, July 20 by 5 p.m. Sponsored by the S.C. Department of Natural Resources^ Becoming an Outdoors-Woman Program, the women only dove hunt set for Monday, Sept. 3, will allow a further hunting opportunity for women who are first-time hunters or experienced hunters. The dove hunt will be held from noon until one hour before sunset at the Lake Wallace Wildlife Management Area in Bennettsville. Fifty applications will be selected by computer drawing at DNR in Columbia. Applications must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, July 20 to be eligible for the drawing. A fee deposit of $25 per hunter must accompany the application. If the application is not drawn, the fee will be refunded. The DNR Becoming an Outdoors-Woman program provides workshops for women to learn outdoor skills using a hands-on approach in a non-intimidating atmosphere.
