PRATT -- The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks has announced that applications for nonresident deer permits are available online. As the May 31 application deadline approaches, this service is particularly timely for those who have not yet applied. Applications are available from regional department offices or the Pratt Operations Office, 512 SE 25th Ave., Pratt, KS 67124, (316) 672-5911. Applications may also be ordered by e-mailing beva@wp.state.ks.us. Be sure to include name and address with requests. The May 31 deadline includes both archery and firearms hunters. Nonresident firearms permits are available in all units. Nonresident archery hunters may apply for statewide archery permits, and all hunter may purchase as many as 4 whitetail antlerless only deer game tags over the counter for $10.50. These tags are valid statewide except that only two may be used in units 17 and 18. This year, no primary permit is required to purchase the game tags.
