The Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division, would like quail hunters to participate in a survey to help determine the potential economic value of management efforts that blend forestry and farming practices. Quail hunting continues through February 28 in the Southern Zone and through March 15 in the Northern Zone. The daily limit is 12 for wild birds. The survey asks hunters to provide information about coveys flushed and numbers of pen-reared or wild quail harvested, as well as estimated hunting expenses for the season. Hunters who would like to participate can obtain a copy of the Avid Quail Hunter Survey form from the Georgia 2000-2001 Hunting Seasons & Regulations booklet, or by contacting the closest Bobwhite Quail Initiative (BQI) habitat restoration office. The survey should be returned by March 15, at the close of the season. For more information about BQI or the hunter survey, call the closest BQI office: East Dublin (912) 272-9017; Albany (912) 420-1212; Waynesboro (706) 554-3745. Or, contact the BQI headquarters office in Forsyth at (912) 994-7583.
