GLENDO -- Nearly two months after the “Walk-in Area” atlases were published and became available to hunters, a mistake in the closing dates for one area along Glendo State Park has been discovered. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department announced today that the closing dates for “Walk-in Area” 60 on the east side of Glendo State Park in Platte County is incorrect; the enrolled area will close Dec. 31. Douglas Wildlife Biologist Bart Kroger discovered the mistake when questioned about the closing date by some resident hunters. “We should have double-checked the date,” said Kroger who was concerned that some hunters may miss some hunting opportunity because the walk-in closing date is wrong. Kroger noted that the Platte County Walk-in Area 60 is only open to pheasant hunting. He also reminds hunters that this is the only Walk-in Area that you need a $10 pheasant stamp because its included in the Glendo State Park Permit Pheasant Season. Permits are required to hunt pheasants on Glendo State Park, Bureau of Reclamation lands bordering the park and the adjoining Walk-in Area 60 on each Friday, Saturday, and Monday during November and each Friday through Monday from Dec. 1-11. Only youth are allowed to hunt on Sundays in November. Glendo pheasant hunters are also reminded a state park permit is required this year to hunt anywhere but the “County Line” area. Pheasant hunters are also reminded that seasons, bag limits and shooting hours vary from other areas of the state. Please check with the current upland game bird regulations that are available at G&F offices and license agents statewide.
