Lincoln – Archery deer hunting will be allowed at Niobrara State Park Nov. 20 through Dec. 31, according to Tom Motacek, park superintendent. Motacek said 10 archers will be allowed access to the park each day. Hunters are required to obtain a special free permit that allows them to hunt in the park. Those wishing to hunt at the park may make reservations beginning 8:00 a.m., Nov. 13. Reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Motacek said four housekeeping cabins will be available for rental by archers. Bedding, towels, cooking utensils, and tableware are provided. Cabins have kitchenettes, complete with a small stove and refrigerator; a screened back porch, and a patio with picnic table and grill. The group lodge for conferences, retreats, family reunions and the like will also be available if someone wants to combine a deer hunt and a business meeting or family reunion. Situated on a ridge overlooking the Missouri River, it, too, offers a spectacular view of the vicinity. The lodge has a well-equipped kitchen and rest rooms and accommodates up to 110 people. To make hunting reservations or to rent a cabin for your hunting trip, call the Niobrara State Park office at 402-857-3373.
