Archery deer hunters in Adams, Brown, Pike and Schuyler counties are advised to wear solid blaze orange hats or caps and blaze orange upper outer garments on Sunday, Oct. 8, to be more easily visible to young people participating in the annual IDNR youth deer hunt.
A number of hunting areas in the four west central Illinois counties will be used by supervised youth for firearm deer hunting as part of the event. Participating landowners have consented to the hunt as part of the IDNR^s youth education program.
Oct. 7 is an education and orientation day for the youth hunt participants. Oct. 8, the young people ages 10-15, accompanied by an adult, will be permitted to hunt from one-half hour before sunrise until 3 p.m.
