As a result of concerns expressed by hunters, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is modifying its regulation which required that hunters carry photo identification in addition to their hunting license, while in the field. The new regulation will still require a second form of identification, but will not require that it have a photograph. "Concerns have been raised that the requirement would cause serious problems for hunters whose religious beliefs do not allow them to be photographed, as well as causing potential difficulties for young hunters who may not have a photo ID," said DNR Secretary Sarah Taylor-Rogers. The second form of identification (or a copy) which will be acceptable include but is not limited to: a driver^s license, Social Security card, school identification card, birth certificate, library card, credit card or employment identification. The regulation is designed to assist law enforcement officers in identifying offenders in the field if a violation is observed.
