Explore Arkansas, " a series of 13 television programs about Arkansas Game and Fish Commission activities and projects, will begin Saturday, Oct. 2. The programs will be on three Arkansas TV stations at 6:30 Saturday mornings through the fall and winter. Other TV stations may join the telecasts. Explore Arkansas is a television companion of AGFC’s Explore Arkansas monthly newsmagazine, which has a free distribution of 200,000 copies. While not a traditional hunting and fishing program, the TV show will focus on the agency, its people and their work. "This is a chance to let people see exactly what we do, day-in and day-out, at the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission." said Len Pitcock, assistant chief of information and education who is directing the TV project. "After spending time in the field with the production crew and many of our staff, I have a new respect for agency folks doing the hands-on work." The program will be on KATV, Channel 7 in Little Rock, KHBS, Channel 40 in Fort Smith and KHOG, Channel 29 in Fayetteville for its 13 weekly episodes, with the final show airing on Christmas morning. Little Rock’s Tommy Sanders is the host for the programs. Sanders has gained a national reputation in outdoors television for his work on the ESPN and ESPN-2 cable networks.
