Low rainfall in August and September has caused water levels on lakes
and rivers to fall below normal. Boaters visiting Hardy Lake, Monroe
Lake and Raccoon Lake this weekend will find access restricted at some
ramps.
o At Hardy Lake near Scottsburg, only the Alpha Ramp is open. People who
desire more information can call the Hardy Lake office at 812-794-3800.
o At Monroe Lake near Bloomington, water at the Crooked Creek ramp is
extremely low and the ramp is open only to canoes and light boats. For
more information about ramp conditions at Monroe Lake, call the staff at
812-837-9546.
o At Raccoon State Recreation Area (Cecil M. Harden Lake) the Raccoon
Lake-Portland Mills ramp is closed. For more information about boating
at Raccoon Lake, call 765-344-1412 or 765-344-1884.
