Locust Shade Pond (Prince William County), Dorey Pond (Henrico County), and Shield Pond (Byrd Park in Richmond) received the second of two seasonal channel catfish stockings on Monday, September 13, 1999. "These are very fine catfish" stated John Odenkirk, Fisheries Biologist and chairman of the Urban Fishing Committee. "Anglers are encouraged to bring the family outside and have fun creeling a few of these beauties." Creel limits are four daily per person. No special licenses are required (persons age 16 and over must have a valid fishing license). Trout fishing will resume at all six urban sites on November 1, 1999 (the above three plus Cook Lake in Alexandria, Lake Biggins in Newport News and Northwest River Park in Chesapeake). For more information: call John Odenkirk at 540-899-4169.
