Annapolis, MD - Come enjoy the unique beauty of Janes Island^s marshlands under the light of the full moon while paddling along Ward Creek on Maryland^s lower Eastern Shore. The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) State Forest and Park Service (SFPS) and the staff of Janes Island State Park invite you to a Full Moon Kayak Adventure along the park^s new water trail on September 24 & 25 and October 22 & 23. Tangier Sound Outfitters, a Nature Tourism partner with SFPS, will provide kayaks and guide service for novice and experienced paddlers. The trip will begin at the park marina boat launch in Crisfield and arrive at the island dock area just after sunset. Participants will then take a short hike to Flat Cap Beach on Janes Island^s western shore. The adventure continues with a guided beach walk along the shores of Tangier Sound. Kayakers will then paddle back to the marina. Paddlers will leave the Janes Island State Park Marina at 6 p.m. for the September trips and at 5:30 p.m. for the October trips. The entire trip will last approximately three hours. Registration fees of $15 per person or $25 per couple include kayak, paddle, personal flotation device, flashlight, dry bag, professional instruction and guide. Janes Island State Park offers campsites, mini-cabins and full-service cabins for rental by calling DNR^s 24-hour, toll-free reservation center at 1-888-432-CAMP (2267).
