The Freshwater Fisheries Section of The South Carolina Department of Natural is currently accepting applications for Farm/Private Pond Owners. The bream/bluegill fingerlings will be stocked in November and December and bass fingerlings the following May. Cost for pond stocking is based on surface acreage of the pond and whether the pond is fertilized or non-fertilized. For a fertilized pond the price is $77.00, per surface acre and a non-fertilized pond is $38.50, per surface acre. The minimum amount for stocking is $38.50. Fertilized ponds will receive 1,000 bluegill/shellcracker fingerlings and 100 bass fingerlings, per surface acre. Non-fertilized ponds will receive 500 bluegill/shellcracker fingerlings and 50 bass fingerlings, per surface acre. Fingerlings average 1.0 inch in length.
