Ladies Day on the Lake," a boating safety and trailer course, will be held Tuesday, Aug. 10 at Lake Murray Marina in Ballentine. The course is sponsored by Lake Murray Association, Lake Murray Marina/Steamers Restaurant and S.C. Department of Natural Resources. The course, geared toward women who want to know more about the operation of family watercraft, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10 at Lake Murray Marina, 1600 Marina Road, Ballentine. Class size is limited, and pre-registration is required. To register, call the Lake Murray Association at (803) 749-3888. Course instruction will be provided by the S.C. Department of Natural Resources. The course will not result in certification, but will familiarize participants in: How to operate family watercraft, and how the watercraft works How to back a boat and trailer into the water and launch it How to dock and return the craft to the trailer and remove it Safety precautions and safety devices to be used while operating the watercraft The course will consist of classroom instruction and hands-on operation of watercraft. Lunch will be provided following completion of the course.
