SANTA FE, NM — New Mexico’s state record rainbow trout has been recognized as a world record for fish of that species caught on 3-kilogram-test (6-pound) line.
Peter Romero of Pojoaque caught the 31-pound, 12-ounce rainbow on March 13, 1999 at Santa Cruz Lake. His catch was recognized by the International Game and Fish Association of Dania Beach, Fla. The fish hit a black leech jig.
