The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission issued a notice of intent on July 8 to establish limits for harvesting black bass on Spanish Lake in Iberia Parish. The proposed rule would enact limits on daily take and fish size. The commission plans to establish a 16 to 21-inch slot limit, making it illegal to possess a black bass 16 to 21 inches in length, with both measurements being inclusive. The commission also intends to enact a daily limit of eight fish, with no more than two of the fish exceeding 21 inches in length. Individuals may submit written comments on the proposed rule by sending them to Biologist Supervisor Mike Walker, Inland Fisheries Division, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, 2415 Darnall Rd., New Iberia, La. 70560. Comments must be received by 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 10, 1999. For more information, contact Bennie Fontenot at 225/765-2330 fontenot_bj@wlf.state.la.us
