Monarch Butterfly

Photo From: Joe Reynolds - Album: OurPlanet

Description: Monarch butterfly - beautiful orange and black insect, sometimes called the "milkweed butterfly" because its larvae dine exclusively on this plant. The monarch needs no camouflage because it takes in toxins from the milkweed and is poisonous to predators. Monarchs are widely distributed and migrate south each fall.
