Description: Greater Flamingo of the Galapagos, found in salty lagoons. Along the bill are little lines called lamellae - anatomical structures that serve as sieve plates for filtering food from the brackish water. Flamingos feed in a peculiar manner with their heads upside down. Uploaded: 10/23/2000 by Joe Reynolds
