Turkey Tags

It’s only natural the home state of the National Wild Turkey Federation is also about to become the first state to offer official NWTF license plates to its motorists.

With the signing of SC House Bill #3272 in June 2001, South Carolina became the first state to offer the license plates. The tags will be available to South Carolina residents beginning in April.

“This license plate program will help unify the NWTF's South Carolina volunteers and raise needed funds to continue our conservation work throughout the state,” said NWTF CEO Rob Keck. “On behalf of the more than 12,000 NWTF members in South Carolina, I want to thank our state legislators and Gov. Jim Hodges for signing this bill.”

The new license plate will feature the NWTF logo and a strutting spring turkey brilliantly displayed in full color. The phrase, “Working for the Wild Turkey” can be seen at the top of the plate with WT and a five-digit number as the registration.

The cost of the NWTF license plate is $35 per year in addition to all applicable registration fees. The NWTF receives 100 percent of this cost excluding registration fees and will use the money to accomplish its mission to conserve the wild turkey and preserve the hunting heritage in South Carolina. All South Carolina residents are urged to show their NWTF pride by purchasing an NWTF license plate at their local Department of Motor Vehicles office.
