The more guns you own, the more you know about guns

Absolutely false!  Why?  Because it implies a causative relationship, that owning guns itself somehow conveys knowledge about them.

I admit that gun owners tend to be more knowledgeable about guns than non-owners, and even that those who own lots of guns may be more knowledgeable about them than folks not exposed to so many.  That's not because they own the guns though - it may be just the opposite, those very knowledgeable about guns have a great interest in them and seek to have more of them.

Just my totally correct and unassailable opinion, of course.
