It seems that John Barsness has rained on the parade of riflemen who are obsessive about barrel cleaning and break in.  You can read about it in this article from American Rifleman magazine.

I always enjoy John's writings as he bases most of his thoughts on much experience.  This article will not change the way that I clean rifles or break in barrels as my system is working just fine for me (I shoot three-shot groups and work up loads while breaking in the barrel) but it will be food for thought for those doing the one shot and clean break in routine.
