How To Hunt Coues Deer, published in 2003 by Arizona Big Game Hunts, is the first ever book solely devoted to the Coues deer -- the diminutive white-tailed deer of the desert. The authors, well-known professional big-game guide Duwane Adams and award-winning outdoor writer, photographer and hunter Tony Mandile, share the knowledge they have acquired over a combined 80 years of hunting experience between them in this definitive source of information about the Coues deer.
More than 200 B&W photos and graphics illustrate the 6” x 9”, 224-page book that is packed with useful tips on hunting one of the West’s unique big-game animals. There’s a separate chapter that provides the best places to hunt with maps for Arizona and New Mexico, and another chapter covers hunting Coues deer south of the border in Mexico. Other chapters discuss the natural history of the Coues deer, recommended rifles and calibers, how to prepare for your hunt, optics and how to use them, carrying out a successful stalk, photographing your trophy and preparing it for the taxidermist.
In the The Tales chapter, 15 hunters and guides recount their hunts for trophy bucks, including Sergio Orozco’s archery world record as certified by Pope & Young in May 2003. Reading how these experienced hunters outsmarted their wary trophies is an education in itself for the neophyte hunter.
For those who enjoy looking at photos of outstanding deer, The Photo Gallery showcases dozens of successful hunters and their bucks from Arizona, New Mexico and Mexico.
