Artist Biography

Following in the footsteps of his father, Dan learned at an early age to love watching fish rise to dry flies in the streams and rivers of the West. Spending countless hours at his father's easels, watching him paint fostered what would become a natural progression to Dan's career as an illustrator of the world he loves so much.

After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at Utah State University, Dan and his wife Patti moved to Connecticut where Dan would go on to pursue his career in illustration in New York City. After five years in the "Big City", the lure of home moved them back to the West.

Settling in the Teton Valley of Idaho, Dan is surrounded by the great fishing rivers and streams that inspired his father and grandfather to love that part of the country so much.

"Sporting scenes seem to be the only thing I really want to paint, especially fishing. I love to see the strike or the quiet moments anticipating the take. Standing in a stream, feeling the water around my legs is for me the essence of what I do, and that's what I try to capture in my work."
