Tasmania is part of the "land down
under." This island, about half the size of
the state of Wisconsin, sits 80 miles south of
the SE corner of Australia and is a state of that
nation. A unique feature of the island are the
expansive freshwater flats where anglers
carefully stalk large trout. Browns arrived in
1864 from England, and these original stocks have
not been diluted; they still show the lovely
markings of the English browns. The average Tassy
brown is 18 to 20 inches, with many much larger.
Fish of 22 pounds and larger are taken each year!
