Section 9: Hunting Subject: Black Rifles In The Field Msg# 827638

I am under the impression that military rounds are lighter and smaller to allow carrying more ammo, as well as the notion that it may be better to wound an enemy than to kill him.
If this is true, then it would seem a hunting round should be something designed to kill and not wound. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I do not disagree... Totally. I do disagree to some of your assumptions. Your assuming high capacity means careless shooting in the field. Talking about the majority of hunters that blast away at the range doesn't man he'll do that in the field. As areas 22 centerfires for big game; I agree, no always a good thing and IMO not sporting. However, today premium bullets can and have taken big game humanely. However I wouldn't test it. That's why I have 30 caliber for! Thereupon why I started this thread was to reason out why there is a prudice against the sinister black rifle. All rifles started off as a military rifle. Even the lever action, although was never officially adopted by the military it saw action the civil war and the Indian wars as I am sure many others. It appears the caliber is the major issue correct Frank? |
