Top-water fishing is excellent, especially during the fall months. In the spring, the morning bite is usually very good. In general, however, the fish are normally smaller, mostly in the 2 to 4 lb. range. But you can catch a bunch with an occasional big fish in the mix. Both of the fish in the first two photos below were caught on top-water plugs. If I recall, Rebel Pop-Rs. It's not unusual for one person to catch 40-50 fish a day using different techniques. Top-water early, then spinnerbaits, bottom baits during mid-day and top-water late is the common scenario. My favoite fishing method is working the trees and brush with spinner baits. It's quite effective in the spring. The last photo shows two 6-lb. fish I caught on a spinnerbait within seconds on two consecutive casts. It was early morning and barely light enough to see.
